Dress Shop Giveaway
Here's the giveaway......2 yards of Michael Miller's Dress Shop Fabric, 2 Fat Quarters of Katie Jump Rope in Red and Green, Moda Home Learn to Sew Lace-Up Cards, and a cute Keepsake Needle Card.
So to win this super cute fabric I'll randomly pick a winner from the comments. However, to make it more fun for everyone - share your best crazy fabric story or if you don't have one, then what fabric would make you do something crazy.
This is the fabric I went crazy for! I think it's a Moda fabric that I saw when I was vacationing in Long Beach, WA for the weekend in 2002. Anna Lena's quilt shop isn't there anymore (sadly) but it was always a favorite place to visit. I fell in love with the fabric but didn't buy it. I came home on Sunday and all day Monday the only thing I could do was think that I had to have that fabric. I did look online but really the online fabric selection back then wasn't very good. So I took off work early and drove three hours round trip just to get the fabric. And I'm so happy I did! I love this quilt!
So now it's on my quilt rack and I'm always reminded of my crazy trip just to get this fabric.
Can't wait to hear your story - leave a comment and I'll draw on August 15th.
~~
If you want some of this Dress Shop Fabric, I have 4 additional yards that I can list for you in my etsy shop. The fabric is $5.00 a yard.

oh boy that fabric is sweet! I think.. as far as crazy goes.... I started sewing pretty recently, about a year and a half ago. So MOST of heather ross's stuff was already sold out and out of print. I love all things funky and whimsical so Heather Ross was pretty much perfect for me in every way ;-) After being told many times that I wouldnt be able to find any lightning bugs ..etc I made it my mission to find it, not just find it but find it for regular prices! With VERY few excetions (a fq of blue gnomes I bought for 12 bucks after a couple glasses of wine with a friend ;-) I almost have a full collection. I think its getting close to being sold out most places but it has been a fun wild ride finding the different wonderful patterns and colors. Now I just have to figure out how to make a quilt to showcase them all
I'm pretty much fabric crazy about anything Denyse Schmidt...I love her fabrics and quilt designs. I'm always on a mission to find some and find a good deal! I had my first baby last year and all of my spare time (which was none) was spent fabric blogging and generally too much time on the computer for my own good:) Sleep deprived but happy and inspired!!
thanks for a great giveaway!!
My crazy fabric story just happened last night! I read on Ann Sutton's blog about the apron that she chose as the winner of an apron contest. When I saw the picture of the winning apron, I had to laugh. About 40 years ago, I had sheets made out of the same fabric. My mom taught me to take 2 flat sheets, put a light blanket in between and tie it with "kitties". That was my first "quilt". I still have that blanket today and it was a hoot to see the winning apron!
The one story that pops into my mind is that Jo-Annes was relocating in town about 6 years ago and having some deep discounts to sell fabric vs. move it and I thought it would be a great time to stock up on fabric for backings...I thought I was being so selective and really picking the cream of the crops to use...well have many many purchases and 6 years later, I think I still have every stitch of that fabric in my stash...just do NOT gravitate toward any of the 12-16 yards of fabric that I thought was such a good deal....oy!
Thanks for the chance at some truely nice fabrics!

Adorable fabric! I have no crazy fabric stories to report though. I have many, many regrets though. I have left loved fabric at the store thinking I can go back and get it later only to find out it is all GONE! Lesson learned (the hard way of course) NEVER leave a loved fabric in the store. It's like leaving a child behind lol
I go crazy over all fabric and each seems to have it's own unique story. i just love this fabric though. It is so fun and happy.
GREAT giveaway as usual!
I don't know if this qualifies as a crazy fabric story but here is what I have:
I bought some fairy fabric 5 years ago and won't use it - waiting for just the right project b/c I paid a lot for it and I love it. This is so silly. My daughters are almost 4 and 6 - what the heck am I waiting for???? They will be out of love with fairies by the time I find a project worthy of my precious fabric.
OK, I resolve to use the fabric to make something for them for Christmas!!
I don't have any crazy fabric story although I am going crazy to get some Summer in the City by Urban Chicks...I see it here and there in other quilts or skirts, but never at my house! Must remedy this situation!
Thanks for the giveaway, really cute stuff!

Thanks for the chance at your giveaway! I suppose I probably have plenty of crazy fabric stories, but I can't think of any of them at the moment! I do tend to shop at my local surplus and salvage store, where I never know what I'm going to find. My best so far were some Flea Market Fancy and some fat quarters of Peas and Carrots, both of which I kept a little and traded the rest! (PS, fabric at Marden's Surplus and Salvage runs 3-4 dollars/yd, fat quarters 75 cents!) Also I am going crazy for Moda's Figgy Pudding line. I have a charm pack and am fighting not to buy more!
Well, my fabric story is not that crazy but last month I was shopping for some fabric with my mother and we ended up somewhat fighting for the last yard of this really cute green colored fabric with this lady. The lady was in her fifties and was freakin' strong. It was not a smackdown or anything. The lady just quickly came up to us and pulled it hard, I held on to it though. She gave up real quick then made a funny face and walked away. This all happened in about three seconds. It was weird. It was the strangest thing that ever happened in my life.
But very funny if you think about it ;)
The only thing I can think of is that I bought a quilt pattern that I saw in a magazine because I absolutely loved their fabric combinations. I rushed right out online and tried to by the fabrics that they had used, but some of it was already sold out. I still haven't made this quilt, although I do keep my eyes open for some similar fabric to make it up in.

I have just discovered your website and love quilting. I decided to make a quilt for the birth of my great nephew. I did not ask how they were decorating because I wanted to use western and cowboy fabrics and just know what I wanted to make for Slate. I took the quilt to them when Slate was 2 weeks old. The nursery was done in cowboy bears with blue and red bandana. The quilt matched everything in the nursery--color and theme. They used it as a wall hanging until he was 3 years old. The mother was speechless when she opened the quilt. What a neat surprise for both of us!
